About Us
After
many happy years summering in a charming cottage in Boothbay Harbor, Karen Brandenburg,
David Caplan and Jack (their beloved beagle) could no longer resist the magical
pull of the New England coast and moved from Cincinnati, Ohio to the seaside village
of Blue Hill, Maine. Maine has been a place to which they have long been attached.
Jack loves those wide open spaces, David loves to sail and Karen is devoted to the
endless beauty of the place.
They packed up and disembarked in the winter of 2004, arriving to minus 20 (that’s minus 20) degree temperatures in mid February. It took a while to thaw out and settle into their wonderful old farmhouse, but once the boxes were unpacked, they began to feel restless.
Thus began the search for the perfect spot for Karen to indulge her passion for gifts, home furnishings, and custom floral wreaths & arrangements. It didn’t take long to locate a sweet, white cottage across from Blue Hill Bay where The Meadow was born. Now, 6 years later, they’ve never looked back nor have they tired of the thrill of each new season at The Meadow.
When your travels take you to New England (as they inevitably will), please come visit! The Meadow is located just up the hill from the Post Office on Main Street in Blue Hill Village and is open daily, Monday - Saturday 10:00 - 5:00, Sunday 12:00 - 4:00. Click here for directions. Come visit!
